Announcements

Subsystem Discussion

Picosat Launcher Engineering Model -- Jeff
  • Order rect. and Belleville springs
  • Order and/or fabricate latch cables
  • Fabrication quote and production  ~ $2500, 2-3 week lead time
  • Instrumentation - bread board model by the end of the week, test for use.  Richard Anderson - those IR sensors are used for bar code reading, should be fine
  • Actuators - Delivery next week on Wed. or Thurs.
Launch Interface -- David
  • Actuator redesign (replace frangi bolt with NEA actuator)

  • Use two cup-cones with oversize holes to get the right fit
  • Minor modifications to fit OPAL and JAWSAT
  • Shake interface with OPAL vertically to verify higher g loads and vertical orientation
  • Structural analysis - Eric to analyze the interface web loads and deflection
Structure -- Santiago
  • Shake structure:
    • Design mass boxes, and decide how to attach them use the same inserts as the actual boxes
    • Find all needed materials to make structure: inserts, epoxy, fasteners.  can get about 50 donated probably to continue work; would need ~170 to completely redo structure
    • Assemble shake structure
    • Shake assembled shake structure -- David
    • Static loads test
  • Flight structure:
    • TBD after completion of shake structure
Testing -- David and Andy
  • Secure contacts and reestablish relationship with Loral, Lockheed Martin, Ames left messages at Lockheed, Twiggs working with Deskin, Loral holding a spot for 2nd week of Nov. (cost ~$2000)
  • Launcher EM testing
  • Interface verification testing
  • OPAL structure verification testing
  • Testing procedures David received test procedure from Loral, working to write up for us then run it by people at Loral and Lockheed
JAWSAT and Orbital Sciences Corp. -- Jeff
  • Interface Control Document updates
  • Computational mass model
  • Finite element model -- completed, send updates
  • Integration meeting at OSC, JAWSAT CDR & PIWG Oct. 29 at Weber St.
  • Battery trickle charger through ASU
Miscellaneous
  • Schedule updates - need to get schedule updates to Jeff for inclusion in general schedule
  • e-mail reminders for each meeting
