Opal Update -- January 21, 2000

Launch Date: Jan 26 (tentatively)

Launch has been rescheduled for Jan 26. The primary issue
is the replacement of the PSS batteries. I am not sure
of their exact purpose but I heard they are part of the
auto-destruct system used in emergencies. They have the
batteries but they are failing to pass acceptance tests.
If tests this weekend are acceptable, we are on for a
Jan 26 launch.
Stay tuned...I'll pass on whatever I hear.
