Opal Update -- January 27, 2000
-
Launch was a success! The countdown was flawless! NORAD picked
up five objects after launch confirming payload separation.
-
On the second pass at Stanford at 4:30am this morning,
the Opal beacon was heard! The following message was
received:
opal:0:1337193435 <01>
This tells us the following:
-
The primary battery power system is working. Good job Carlos!
-
The panels might be working...the above beacon says we have
a high voltage. This means our panels could be charging the
batteries.
- The radio/TNC are working.
- The CPU set the TNC at least once.
We had trouble contacting Opal due to ground station problems.
These are being resolved and we're getting ready for a 6am pass.
Should be a good one.
