Opal Update -- February 18, 2000 PM
  1. Opal appears to be working well though we have not logged in since last Saturday. Beacons are being received loud and strong.
  2. We attempted contact from the dish this morning. Beacons were decoded but no contact made. After much scratching of heads, we figured out that Opal was ignoring us. Mental note...always check with you engineering model before you send commands to flight. We essentially commanded Opal to ignore us (based on our call signs). We tested with our EM after the fact and know the solution.
  3. We will be at the dish Sunday evening and then several times next week. We plan to continue payload and telemetry downloads.
  4. The SSDL ground station is continually under repair. We are finally able to decode beacons again. We attempt contact this weekend.
  5. So far, we still have a fully functional spacecraft. Almost a month now!
