Opal Update -- February 24, 2000 PM
-
These past several days we have attempted connecting to
Opal from Stanford's ground station. Success has been
marginal. The ground station is still not properly configured.
However, Opal appears to be functioning properly! Can you
believe it's been working for almost a month?!
-
Since Tuesday, we have been working with the JAWSAT ops team
to look for JAWSAT at the big dish. JAWSAT has not been heard
yet. Reset codes have been sent to JAWSAT to place it in a
low power standby state. If it is still functioning, it will
hopefully recharge over time and begin beaconing at a future
date. We'll hope for the best but it has not been heard since
the first pass after launch.
-
Next week we'll have access to the dish again. We hope to
download further bus and payload data. Our ops team is limited
so any analysis done by the outside world would be greatly
appreciated. I am particularily interested in roll rate. It
seems to be changing over time and I'd like to see what the
rate of change is. We'll continue publishing our data as we
download it.
-
We're also going to try and comm with STENSAT next week at the
dish. No one has heard it yet so we'll try it with a real
antenna!
-
We have a ton of pictures that have yet to go online. We'll
publish them as we find time. Stay tuned...
