Welcome to the Space and Systems Development Laboratory in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University.  Our educational mission is to train students in all aspects of system design life cycle through hands-on work with student-engineered systems deployed in real-world operational environments. Our research mission is to develop innovative technologies to enable more capable and robust distributed systems with special interest in space environments.  Current the AA236A class is in session.  The Rovers are being built!

Here is a video of a Satellite Tool Kit (STK) simulation of LMRST's path around the earth.  STK is used to determine data link strength, power / charging capabilities, and commutation windows of satellites orbiting the Earth.

LMRST JPL Visit (Video!) E-mail

SSDL took a trip down to JPL this past weekend to do a hardware and software integration test.  The antenna deployment system worked flawlessly.  We were able to turn JPL's payload on and off and test communications between JPL's payload and Stanford's SNAP Solution.
Calpoly Cubesat Conference E-mail

Stanford's SSDL AA236C Class took a trip down to Calpoly to participate in the annual Cubesat Conference.  Stanford presented our current project 'SNAP Solutions' to the cubesat community.

After some design and testing, we settled on an antenna deployment design.  Here's our preliminary design video, and here is our final design video.  But If you're brave, here's the REMIX VIDEO!
